Sea-inspired glass forms with found materials
2025
“Venus’s Daydreaming” is the first project I created at Oslo Glass Studio. My inspiration came from the sea: the tides rising and falling, the power of nature, and the magical sea foam hiding countless secrets. My starting materials were found shells and, mainly, pieces of driftwood collected on the beach of the small island Gressholmen in Oslo. Using those found beach-objects and wire, I constructed simple molds that gave shape to the glass, and more importantly, carried within them the story of that place. From that process emerged unique objects embodying the memory of shore, sea and nature. A series of photographs was also created, showing the “Venus” vases back on the island of Gressholmen captured under the sunlight reflecting on the water’s surface. This project was exhibited together with Charlotte Cohene in June 2025 at Oslo Glass Studio, during the group exhibition GLASSY 2025.
