LAZY EIGHT

Ležatá osmička (The Lazy Eight) began in 2018 as my bachelor’s thesis in Environmental Design (FAMU, prof. Jaroslav Brabec). I created a series of beer mugs and a book of interviews. With one simple mug design and mold, I visited ~20 Czech glassworks, studios, and design ateliers, asking makers to express themselves on the mug and show their best skills. The project explores not only aesthetic and technical aspects of glass, but also its social context—through conversations with directors, designers, multi-generation glassmakers, and craftsmen with over fifty years at the blowpipe. This project made me fall in love with glass; it became a calling. In 2023, with film producer Ondřej Beránek (PUNK film s.r.o.), we revived the project and are preparing a film version for the big screen. IG: lezataosmicka_film.
